Anvil Could Have Had Financial Success by (Story of Anvil Rocks)

I just finished watched a real great documentary, “The Story of Anvil”, about the 2 leaders of Heavy Metal Band Anvil, who’ve pursued their dream for the last 30 years despite all the adversities and set backs who refuse to throw in the towel. You don’t have to be a Heavy Metal fan to love this movie and to love the guys in Anvil especially lead singer/guitarist Steve “Lips” Kudlow who if heart was enough would be the richest man on the planet. I hope that Anvil is capitalizing now on the obvious success of “The Story of Anvil”, which I’d recommend both musicians and non-musicians to see, as its an honest view of what it takes to pursue ones dreams.
The one prevalent theme from “The Story of Anvil”, is that Anvil attributes their lack of financial success to lack of management. Just from a business standpoint, from the outside looking in as one not involved in the music industry, I see a few steps that Anvil could have taken that would have brought them more financial success which to me were no brainers they should have done. I should point out, as I’m not an insider, maybe these things aren’t as easy to do as they seem and maybe that’s why they weren’t done:
1. Anvil Should Have Recorded a Album with well known Heavy Metal Musicians Guesting. If Anvil had done an album with Heavy Metal Musicians guesting like say the musicians of Metallica, Slayer, Slash, etc., there is no doubt that album would have been put out by a major label, boosted their reputation and boosted sales.
2. Anvil should have tried to be the opening act for a band like Metallica live on tour. I mean these guys seem to hold Anvil in admiration, surely they would consider it.
3. Try to get one of the name Metal bands to record one of their original songs like “Metal on Metal”. This would again increase Anvil’s profile as well as add money to their finances.
If some of these steps were already done, I apologize, as I don’t follow Heavy Metal but don’t dislike it either. I hope Anvil has the financial success that’s been eluding them in 2010.
