I’ll probably be considered a heretic for saying this but the best audio sound I get when I play rock and blues CD’s (I don’t listen to classical music) is from $15 Acoustic Research Performance Series Directional Audio Cables (AP-031) which on my system outperform every pair of expensive $200 to 1,000 plus state of the art interconnect cables I have ever tried. Before I go on, cables considerably affect the sound of your CDs especially if you’re very particular of what your listening too.

My CD sound system consists of a Jolida JD-100A Tube CD player that I have connected by Acoustic Research AP-031 Cables to a Musical Fidelity X-10 V3 Tube Buffer by Acoustic Research AP-031 Cables again to my Denon A/V 3801 Receiver to my Orb Audio Mod 1 Speaker System and Super Eight Subwoofer. I have an Audio Horizons Harmony Power Cord attached to my Jolida CD player which improves the sound considerably particularly the bass and gives the music more oomph. Click Here When I have tried this setup endless times using $200 to 1,000 cables at both ends instead of the acoustic research cables, the sound is always more cleaner, smoother with no grit, balls or edge and that simply isn’t how I want to hear rock and the blues. Somehow the Acoustic Research AP-031 Cables give my CDs a richer, warmer, ballsier natural organic sound where I hear the highs and the lows instead of a smoother compact sound. Usually more expensive is better but in the case of Rock and Blues, cheap Acoustic Research AP-031 Analogue Audio Cables give you the best sound.
