Turtle Beach EarForce HPA2 5.1 ch Surround Sound Amplified PC Gaming Head Set are without doubt the best laptop Headphones I’ve ever heard. First Confession: I’m not a gamer and I just bought these headphones to listen to Blu-Ray DVDs, 5.1 DVDs, Music, MP3 files and Video on my new Acer Aspire AS5740-5749 Notebook which features 5.1 sound. Second confession: Even though I’m pretty computer fluent, I am a bit technically confused on the whole listen to 5.1/7.1 surround sound on your laptop through surround sound headphones and I may be stating a few technical facts wrong as a resut- I tried looking them up online and it was even more confusing, but the bottom line is Turtle Beach EarForce HPA2 5.1 ch Surround Sound Amplified PC Gaming Head Set sounds fantastic to my ears listening to music, blu-ray discs, dvds, cds, mp3, etc.

The Headphones are pretty comfortable, I’d give them a solid B on comfort and there are 5 volume controls that go through the Headphones 6.1 Amplifier which I’m assuming gives the 5.1 surround sound: Front volume levels, surround (back levels), center/subwoofer and the Master Volume On/Off Switch. The Subwoofer is absolutely fantastic and it gives the best bass I’ve ever heard on headphones. There is also a Mic volume level for gaming and there are 4 Jacks and a USB Cable Connection. Here is where I am totally technically confused as it seems like I just need to use one of the Jacks and the USB to get 5.1 Surround Sound and not a separate external sound card to plug all the Jacks into my laptop (I plugged all 3 Jacks into my sound card inputs excluding the Mic Jack but only 1 Jack and the USB cable seem to be necessary for me to get 5.1 surround sound. I don’t quite grasp this or anything but the sound from these headphones is expanded and the depth is amazing as I’m hearing the sound from a bunch of different positions inside the headphones 8 speakers!
