Bike Riding Safety Ride Defensively Idiots Can Kill You

Bicycle riding is great exercise unfortunately there are many idiots driving cars that shouldn’t be permitted to drive them and idiots can kill you, especially if you’re riding as bike. The best way to ensure your bike riding safety is to always ride defensively and assume idiots can always kill or maim you. I hope I always adhere to my advice as well because its very easy to get yourself in a comfort zone riding a bike and forgetting to ride defensively. For the terms of this article, bike riding means riding a bicycle, riding an electric bicycle and riding an electric scooter that you’re not required to have a license for depending where you live.
Whenever possible, you should always ride on a bicycle lane. If there is no bike lane, then you might be safer riding on the farthest right hand side of a street as close to the curb as you can rather than a sidewalk as usually (but not always) the street is smoother. My worst incident riding a bicycle on a sidewalk happened when some idiot brain dead woman who could clearly see me coming 300 feet away from her on the sidewalk riding on the on the left hand side proceeded to walk straight into my bicycle from the center of the sidewalk. I wound up being thrown into the bushes and she did one of those mumble mumble I speak no English acts and after screaming at her for 30 seconds I left in case she was going to try to pull some insurance scam on me. I since was informed that I might have broken the law by doing so and that yes she probably was trying to pull some insurance scam. Ever since then I’ve been riding on the street.
You should always put your hands over your bicycle hand breaks when crossing an intersection or when passing a drive way because even though you have the right of way there are plenty of idiots who don’t understand the concept of right of way and these idiots can hurt or kill you. Three times in the past year I’ve gone past a drive way riding on the bicycle lane when an idiot who was in a drive way about to pull out could clearly see me coming through and still went ahead and didn’t bother to let me pass. Luckily I had my hands over the hand breaks and was able to stop in time. Another time, the light had changed and I was going across the street when an idiot going across the street the other way turned straight into my path. Again I was able to stop and not get hit because I rode defensively and had my hands over my hand breaks.
I would never ride a bicycle at night or when it starts to get dark because nothing personal, you’re asking for it. Usually after 5:00 PM there are plenty of people in a rush to get home and I assure you, your safety is not foremost on their mind.
I’m sure most of you wear bicycle helmets because of your local bicycle helmet law. All I’ll add to that is that I recommend that you buy a bike helmet that fits you the best and feels the most comfortable irregardless of the price. If you buy a cheap helmet save for $35 to save money and you get hurt asd a result, you’re basically saying that your life was only worth $35!
One thing I recommend you doing that unfortunately I didn’t do and it cost me possible money is carry a pen with you at all times. I was riding my bike going into this small area slowly in a small shopping mall and a woman wound up slightly hitting my bike as she was going out the other way slowly and she didn’t bother to see if there was any damage to my bike and kept on going. I didn’t have a pen to write down her license number albeit the damage was very minor. I don’t intend to be in that situation again.
