Bloggers Beware People Claim Writing Credit for Articles You Write!

I’m very new to the world of Blogging but in the past week since I’ve set up this Blog, I have had several people pick up original Blog Posts I have written in their blogs, which is fine and I appreciate it, but crediting themselves as the writer of the Post, which is just unbelievable too me. Even killers and drug dealers have higher ethical standards and morality. Oh, I have no doubt that they’ll probably put their name to this post too! At the least its clearly a copyright violation. If I’m reading something into something where no problem exists because of my inexperience as a blogger than I apologize. This reminds me of the supposed true story of a film directors assistant who knocked on a movie star’s trailer door telling him they needed him on the set immediately but there was no answer so the assistant opened the door which wasn’t locked. When he came in he discovered the movie star engaged in oral sex with another man. Whereupon the movie star screamed “This isn’t what you think”!

At this point, its not legally worth pursuing and I’ve been told that you should initially contact the plagiarist blogger and if they don’t take their name off then contact their ISP. All of this is time consuming. You can usually find Blogs that pick up your Posts by doing a Google Search under site:YourBlogURL or putting your title in the Google Search Bar using the exact phrase with quotation marks. If anyone knows of any other ways to deal with this problem please let me know including if you think I’m overreacting.

  1. I totally agree with you and do not think you are over reacting. I haven’t found my blog posts on any other site, but I did find an article I had written, thanks to Google Alerts. The person tore it to shreds by outlandishly added their links throughout the article. The article no longer makes sense. It still has my name as the author, but they destroyed the work and my resource box or bio. It makes me angry, so I understand your thoughts and feelings regarding plagiarism. It’s flat thievery! These people have no conscious, morals, values or standards.

Hum…I wonder who they had for a mother? I hope she stopped with them.
