Outside of who killed JFK one of lifes greatest mysteries to me is why no one has ever done a book, movie or TV Series on Bobby Fuller of the Bobby Fuller 4 “I Fought the Law” Fame. Before you read further enjoy this video clip of the great Bobby Fuller 4 performing “I Fought the Law”.
In fact, Bobby Fuller isn’t even in the Rock Hall of Fame while noted rockers like Leonard Cohen and Miles Davis are. Bobby Fuller was Rock and Roll. Life ain’t fair.
Bobby Fuller’s story sells itself and should have been a hot movie and a book 25 years ago but to quote John Belushi, “Nooo”! Just the title alone, “I Fought the Law -the Bobby Fuller 4″ sells and brands a book, movie or TV series but the powers that be would rather give you a “John from Cincinnati” on HBO instead which makes me think maybe this is a Global Coverup.
Bobby Fuller you see was a Rock God who lived the rock and roll lifestyle of the 60′s and died a death at the age of 23 that makes the JFK’s assassination seem like child play.
The Bobby Fuller 4 performed what many consider to be the greatest rock record ever, “I Fought the Law” and Bobby Fuller’s true life story sounds like it was written in Hollywood: Raised in Texas, handsome young musical genius goes to Hollywood in the 60′s with his brother and friends to seek fame and fortune, has gorgeous women flocking all over him, hits the big time with “I Fought the Law”, has a huge following of stars and starlets in the Hollywood clubs, lives the rock star life to the fullest and then one day at 23 in 1966, is found dead in his car in front of his house beaten and bruised with gasoline all over him and his death is ruled a suicide! Like he could have driven home after committing suicide by beating himself up and pouring gasoline down his throat and body. I mean his story is “Buddy Holly” meets “JFK” meets “Friday Night Lights” and this doesn’t get written into a book and turned into a movie or Cable TV Series?
All one needs to hear is the initial drum beat and chords of “I Fought the Law” to recognize the song and for the opening credits or coming attractions with Law in the background as we see the Bobby Fuller 4 Playing on stage with beautiful women in the audience swooning and then a montage with “Law” in the background of Bobby as a kid in Texas, followed by a naive kid going to Hollywood, then back on the stage then offstage with his arms around some beautiful women in an open car basking in the Hollywood sun with a narrator going at “21 Bobby Fuller had it all, looks, beautiful women, hit records and talent” for the Cable TV Series that never was. We then see his car go around the bend and see him parked, beaten up, a mess with gasoline over him, as the narrator then says, “At 23 he was dead”. The Cable TV series that never was would then spend the next year interspersing his life in Texas, coming over to Hollywood, making it big and speculating about his mysterious bizarre death, in the same and different episodes, kind of like “China Beach”, if I remember that TV series right. The sound track would feature all the great stuff he recorded like “Let Her Dance”, “Never to Be Forgotten”, “My True Love”, “Julie” and more. The soundtrack would sell the TV series and the TV series would sell the sound track.
