Bottled Soda Tastes Better Than Canned Soda
I always though that it was my imagination that bottled soda tastes better to me than canned soda, its more refreshing in my opinion and out curiosity I just researched this on the internet, and it looks like this is not my imagination after all: People seem to prefer Bottled Soda over Canned Soda. I actually like Diet Coke in a bottle but can’t stand the taste of it in a can. For the purpose of this article I am talking about Plastic Bottled Soda not Glass Bottled. Yes I know the photo is Glass Soda but the chick is hot!
Here are some of the reasons that people attribute Canned Soda Tasting differently from Bottled Soda,
which may or may not be true- sorry I couldn’t find any definite answers:
1. Canned Soda is Less Carbonated.
2. Canned Soda tastes metallic.
3. The soda formulas for canned and bottled sodas are different.
4. The aluminum in cans alters the taste of soda.
5. Metal from a can makes soda go flatter faster.
6. I found this answer on a Website called Answerbag by someone with the Screen Name ReverendDoctor and I quote “aluminum cans are produced in a stamping process which uses a food-grade stamping lubricant. being food-grade, this oil is safe and non-toxic, so it is not cleaned off of the cans before filling with soda. If you look at the surface of the liquid in your soda can after opening it, you will notice an “oil slick” type rainbow effect on top. this is the oil residue from the manufacturing process. Plastic bottles are manufactured through a blow molding process, and therefore do not contain the stamping oil.”
People seem to prefer the taste of glass bottled soda to plastic bottled soda and the taste of smaller bottles of soda to larger bottles of soda because carbonated water is better preserved in smaller bottles. Almost everyone seems to prefer the taste of fountain soda to canned or bottled soda with the key difference being the water.
The best answer I saw online is Canned and Bottled Soda tastes different for “the same reason why food tasted better when you eat it with your hands than a fork”!
