I’m no musicologist but I was shocked when I just saw what I assume to be a new Pepsi Cola Commercial at the 2 minute warning during the Arizona Cardinals Atlanta Falcons Playoff Football game on NBC that starts with the wording “Yo” “Howdy” “Aloha” shown and the lyrics “And the world is made of energy and the world is electricity” and so on, which sounds with the melody practically identical to the part on “Put A Little Love in Your Heart” by Jackie DeShannon that goes “and the World will be a better place, and the World will be a Better Place, For You and Me”. Includes Jackie DeShannon video of “Put a Little Love”.

Just thought I’d use this blog to give Snowy White, an “auxiliary guitarist” for Pink Floyd live and on record, co- lead guitarist with Thin Lizzy from 1979-81, and leader of his own band, as recognition for being one of the best lead guitarists in the world and as an introduction to any guitar rock [...]

Here’s a rare Beatles Trivia Quiz I thought up- Rare Because it isn’t as easy as most Beatles Trivia Quizzes. It’s more geared to devoted fans of the Beatles than the casual fan and covers Beatles recording sessions, albums and Beatles Wives as well as the Beatles themselves. Answers follow question 10. Good luck.

Chess Records of Chicago put out some of the best blues, R&B, and early rock and roll records of the Fifties and Sixties and is now the subject of not one but two different movies coming out: “Cadillac Records” starring Adrien Brody as Leonard Chess, Cedric the Entertainer as Willie Dixon, Mos Def as Chuck Berry, Columbus Short as Little Walter, Jeffrey Wright as Muddy Waters, and BeyoncĂ© Knowles as Etta James and “Who Do You Love” with a lesser known cast (I would have listed the leads but no offense intended I never heard of any of them). I thought before the great music of Chess Records is trivialized and “bastardized” by companies trying to cash in on these movies, that I’d recommend the best “Best Of” original recording collections on CD of some of the great Chess Recording Artists, so anyone interested in hearing more will know where to look.

No one illustrates the importance of owning a band, business or product’s name more so than Axl Rose of Guns N’ Roses. Musicians as well as businessmen and inventors can learn from him as no matter what you think, he is one smart dude.

I just saw the best documentary I’ve ever seen titled “Everest Rocks” on cable TV and this movie which features Rock Musicians Mike Peters from the Alarm, Stray Cats Slim Jim Phantom, Glenn Tilbrook of Squeeze, Cy Curnin and Jamie West-Oram of The Fixx, singer Nick Harper, Mt. Everest summiteers, trekkers and cancer survivors, on a once in a lifetime journey to Mt. I just saw and heard an amazing performance of Tom Petty’s “Free Fallin’” by a singer/actress/model named Elena Satine on CBS’s Cold Case and to my utter disappointment it apparently is not available commercially.

“Shake It” by Johnny Dyer and Rick Holmstrom on Black Top Records is the best blues album I’ve heard in 20 years with the hottest sizzling blues guitar since Eric Clapton on the John Mayall Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton album.

One of my favorite Rock Groups of the 60s that never got its due is Los Bravos of Spain who had the classic hit Black is Black but unfortunately are considered a 1 Hit Wonder by most people in the United States but were so much more than that. I’ve included over 9 videos of their songs with this blog.

I love moron movies. Moron movies are movies with no real point, no social value that totally entertain you and are universally panned by the critics. “Maximum Overdrive” featuring an awesome soundtrack by AC/DC that sets the pace of the movie and written and directed by Stephen King is one of the great Moron Movies Ever which is the highest compliment I can give a movie!

I thought I’d put together for any fan of Sixties Music Video links on one page of the 10 Best Sixties Liverpool Groups after the Beatles featuring the original founding group lineups performing mainly live in the 60’s on very good quality footage. In other words you are seeing the original founding lineup performing in the 60’s not some 2008 version of the band with 1 original member!

Before someone reads me the riot act, I am a fan of Led Zeppelin and this “Separated at Birth” Blog with pictures is not meant as an insult at all but something I think most Led Zeppelin fans may enjoy. I did not include anything on John Bonham as I considered that disrespectful. To me Led Zeppelin were one of my favorite hard rock acts and Jimmy Page is the best lead guitarist in the world.
