The Anquan Boldin Arizona Cardinals contract situation reminds me very much of what happened to the New Jersey Nets (Long Island Nets) Dr. J, Julius Erving, when the Nets wouldn’t pay Dr. J what he was worth when they joined the NBA.

I’m positive that New York Jets fans are drooling over the possibility that the Jets make Mike Shanahan the New York Jets Head Coach which would be a great move but it will never happen.

Selecting Mike Singletary San Francisco 49ers Head Coach was an inspirational decision and a serious mistake in any attempt to escape mediocrity just to placate the fans.

I just read a fascinating article on the High School Football State Champions Pulaski (Ark.) Academy’s No Punt Offense and was wondering why no NFL Team ever tried this.

I had to laugh when Jerry Jones the owner of the Dallas Cowboys had the nerve to criticize running back Marion Barber sitting out a game because of his dislocated right pinkie toe. Once a player’s injuries render them no longer useful, the NFL owners kick them to the curb.

I’m a Kurt Warner fan and I applaud the Arizona Cardinals for having a great season but if they want to win in the NFL Playoffs the team has got to get their act together. They are the most untogether winning playoff contender team I have seen in years and that includes both the coaching and the players.

If someone would have told you 3 years ago that Matt Cassel would have performed better in the NFL than Matt Leinart who he backed up at USC, you’d say they were on crack!

The 1965 New York Giants went and I kid you not, 4 for 25 in field goals made, a 16% rate. That’s right, they made 4 filed goals in 25 attempts.

The NFL does not draft many punters because like field goal kickers many teams seem to feel they can get a good punter from free agent punters recently released from their NFL team or undrafted rookies. Here is a list of punters drafted in the NFL from 1970 onwards, listied by year, Round, Overall # in Draft, Player, College and Team for any of the curious.

The NFL does not draft many Ivy League Football Players, in fact last year there were none. Yale has had the most players drafted, 22, during this period. There have been only 2 Ivy League players drafted in the first round since 1967: Calvin Hill of Yale in 1969 who in my opinion was the best pro football player from the Ivy League and Marty Domres of Columbia also in 1969. Here is a list of Ivy League Players drafted in the NFL from 1967 onwards, by individual Ivy League School listed by year, Round, Overall # in Draft, Player, and Team for any of the curious.

Wow field goal kicking in the NFL sure has changed a lot in the last 40 years. Nowadays it seems if a kicker isn’t hitting 85% of his field goal attempts they’re history but not so in the NFL past. Take the case of the 1965 New York Giants. I had to read this from 4 different online sources to believe this. I’m guessing off the top of my head that the 1965 New York Giants had the NFL’s worst field goal record in the last 50 years and I can’t figure out how prey tell this was allowed to happen. The 1965 New York Giants went and I kid you not, 4 for 25 in field goals made, a 16% rate. That’s right, they made 4 filed goals in 25 attempts.

Right now the Arizona Cardinals have a dilemma that a lot of pro football teams would love to have. They have 2 good quarterbacks in Kurt Warner and Matt Leinart but unfortunately you can only play one quarterback at a time.

One thing I don’t understand about some NFL teams today is why after say their first 4-6 games they don’t realize that they are mediocre at best and by using the same plays with the same personnel they are just due to drone the season out producing terrible to mediocre results? In the 1970’s, the [...]

Green Bay Packers Aaron Rodgers to me is the NFL Player of the year and to me has put together the best NFL Season on a player since Kurt Warner won Super Bowl XXXIV with the Cardinals. I realize Rodgers excellent statistics don’t come close to supporting those two statements on statistics alone but when you consider the intense pressure Aaron Rodgers has come over from his home team fans and the media, I think Rodgers year has been incredible.

While it’s early in the NFL season, I now truly believe that New England Patriots Bill Belichick is the NFL’s Most Valuable Player. I know he’s a Head Coach but I truly believe that if an NFL Team could pick up anyone in the League for say a flat $25,000,000 plus salary, most NFL teams would pick up Bill Belichick rather than a player like a Tom Brady or a Peyton Manning other than the teams that are satisfied with their Head Coaches.

The San Diego Chargers make no mistake about it, got a lousy deal about losing to the Denver Bronco’s because of a Referee’s mistake this week. I’m not defending the Ref’s mistake or giving the stupid cliche line. “It’s part of the game”, but what I find totally hypocritical about NFL
