This past week’s CBS Without a Trace “Better Angels” episode was a classic for the series as Jack Malone(Anthony LaPaglia) has made the full conversion to horny sleazeball. I think this is a first for a drama series on TV. Usually, there’s always an excuse for a characters contrived bad behavior like drugs or alcohol or a cheating wife, but in Jack’s case, his inner Sleezeball just came out and it made for fantastic TV! While Jack has had his problems in his job and his life, he never as far as I know, used his position for his own selfish personal needs till now.

“Better Angels” was Jack as we’ve never seen him. He now apparently wants to have sex with Sam (Poppy Malone) so badly, he’s willing to use a missing person’s case to do it. He asked Sam out for Chinese Food at his home and Sam put him off using the tried and true excuse “My mother is visiting for the week”, only in Sam’s case it was true. But was that enough to put Jack’s needs off? Hell No! Jack decided a trip to Los Angeles was in order to track down a missing person who may have gone there and he needed one specific person from the FBI to accompany him, Sam! It wasn’t important to Jack that Sam had a baby to take care of, he needed her now and who cares if his entire FBI team is going to know what’s up? So Sam of course goes with Jack and it seems like the whole case is secondary to his goal of sleeping with Sam. He even goes so far as to say this in so many words. By the end of the episode, he’s won Sam over. Showbiz!
