I recently bought a new Windows 7 Notebook Computer to replace my XP Core 2 Notebook Laptop that I use in my bedroom and moved my Modem and Router from my den to my bedroom which left my desktop in the den without an internet connection. As the desktop computer was totally screwed up anyway rather then Spending $75 to get it fixed and another $75 for a USB wireless connection to it, I just decided to convert my XP Core 2 Notebook to a Desktop PC with a 21″ monitor, Here’s how to convert a laptop to desktop easily without having to take any hardware apart.

1. I connected the 21″ monitor to my Toshiba Tecra A8 5813 XP Core Duo Notebook. I reset the laptop screen resolution settings to what was automatically recommended on my 21″ monitor and the imaging on the monitor was perfect.

2. I set the controls on the laptop so it was still powered on and working when I closed the latch so the laptop monitor was now closed and not visible. This way I see only the monitor screen.

3. I then put the laptop in the storage area right under my computer table top so it was actually out of site. If you don’t have an underneath compartment on your computer table, just set the laptop closed on top of the table.

4. I put my wireless Logitech Mouse USB attachment to my laptop external hub.

5. I attached my Wireless Logitech Keyboard attachment to my laptop USB hub.

6. I attached the Desktop external speakers to the back of my laptop and changed the sound settings of my laptop.

7. I connected my Scanner and printer by USB to the back of my laptop.

8. I turned my Wireless laptop connection on.

That’s it and I now have a Core 2 Desktop with a 21″ Monitor without taking anything apart whatsoever, fast and easy!
