Dark Horse Comics The Goon Should Be A Cable TV Series
Dark Horse Comics “The Goon” by Eric Powell is simply one of the best comics ever and would be a great Cable TV Series with the right actors. I just read that its going to be made into an animated movie directed by David Fincher (“Fight Club”) which is great but I would have loved “The Goon” to have been a live action TV series on Cable TV. Just imagine a nastier version of “Casablanca” meets “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” meets “Deadwood” meets “Sin City”. Ah, the dreams.
If you’ve never read the Goon you should and you’ll be in for a treat. The Goon features great artwork, characters and storyline. I recommend you start with “The Goon Volume 1: Nothin’ But Misery” a 160 page trade paperback containing the first Goon comic books.
The Goon himself is a muscle bound brawling Humphrey Bogart anti-hero thug built like a Gorilla who unofficially rules a town run amok by dark forces where bones and heads literally roll inhabited by Zombie gangs under a Zombie priest, Gangsters, ghouls, grave robbers, beautiful women, chug-heads, vampires, skunk-apes, a mentally retarded guy name Peaches Valentine prone to messes in his pants inhabit with the kitchen sink thrown in.The Goon’s sidekick is Frankie, who’s favorite move is “Knife to the eyes” and kind of looks like a younger worse looking version of Elmer Fudd with no pupils on meth! Frankie isn’t blind though.
I’m sure the animated featured film will be great especially with Eric Powell’s involvement but maybe the geniuses who picked up “John from Cincinnati” will wise up and make “The Goon” a live action TV series.
