Electric Scooter Bicycle Hybrid IZIP HG-1000 Riding Tips Not in Manual

I just love my IZIP HG-1000 Electric Scooter Bicycle Hybrid and if you have an IZIP HG-1000 or are going to buy one, here are some riding tips not in the manual that I’ve personally discovered and use to give me the best, fastest and longest battery charged rides. Of course what is applicable to me may not be applicable to you but I thought I’d share how I myself get best use of my HG-1000. Whether you want to try what works for me is your business.
IZIP HG-1000 Riding Tips Not In the Manual
1. I find that the only way to get a good really fast ride is to peddle when also using the throttle. Peddling with the throttle is quite easy and comfortable and you really don’t feel any resistance at all.
2. Go to any bike shop and for $30-$40 get them to install a speedometer. Use the Speedometer to help you figure how fast you want to be going using the throttle. I’ve found that when I am peddling I can usually get between 20-28 MPH despite IZIP saying the HG-1000 goes up to 15 MPH.
3. When you stop your HG-1000 at a Red Light if there are cars behind you, when the green light comes back on, use the throttle at Full force for around 10 Seconds when peddling and then gradually lower it off full force until your at the speed you want to be with the throttle.
4. I only use my HG-1000 for trips over 3 to 20 miles roundtrip (I use my small Ezip 1000 Electric Scooter for short local trips and errands see here) and to get the battery to last for about 3 hours or so, I leave it charged for 12 hours each time.
5. As a general safety tip, I’ve found on the only problems I’ve had with cars and drivers are people who are pulling out of driveways be it a home, apartment, or store complex, who don’t seem to grasp that even that even when I’m in front of them, they do not have the right of way. I urge you to be real careful and cautious when you ride past a car pulling out of a driveway. I always ride on a bike path or the furthest right hand side of the street and have never had a problem.
6. Always turn your power off with your key when you are leaving it unattended parked outside and obvious chain locked. This saves a lot of battery energy.
7. If you are going to leave your HG-1000 out unattended and locked for more than an hour, say at a Movie Theater, make sure they have working video security cameras over where you are parked. I won’t leave things out unattended and locked when its nightfall and in fact won’t ride in the night. Get a good secure chain lock. Update since I Originally Wrote This: I Recommend You Get a Steel U Lock instead of a chain lock for the HG-1000 like the Kryptonite New York LS Bicycle U-Lock ( 4-Inch x 10.25-Inch) as its almost impossible to break into and for the $700 or so you’ve paid for the HG-1000 you may as well have it super protected.
