I just saw the best documentary I’ve ever seen titled “Everest Rocks” on cable TV and this movie which features Rock Musicians Mike Peters from the Alarm, Stray Cats Slim Jim Phantom, Glenn Tilbrook of Squeeze, Cy Curnin and Jamie West-Oram of The Fixx, singer Nick Harper, Mt. Everest summiteers, trekkers and cancer survivors, on a once in a lifetime journey to Mt. Everest surrounded by the beauty of the Himalayas to stage the highest concert on land to raise money for a local cancer hospital in Nepal. This is definitely the best rock related film as well as the best documentary film I’ve ever seen and deserves an Emmy or Oscar, whatever is applicable (I’m not sure if this was a theatrical release). I should mention Mike Peters is a two times Cancer Survivor.

I’ve never seen a more inspiring film with incredible cinematography of the beauty of the Himalayas while at the same time telling the story and courage of cancer survivors as they, the musicians and non-cancer survivors trek to Everest for the highest concert in the world on land. I don’t know how the film crew had the energy to film this as they trekked too and how the musicians had the energy to perform as one sees what the altitude does to all the hikers and this was no easy waltz for the musicians or anyone who trekked. The film makes you feel the altitude. Terrific cinematography, live music, editing, sound, just amazing. I don’t know how they did all this – I’d love to see a documentary on the documentary as a project like this must have taken incredible logistical and technical planning. I’m not a spiritual person but seeing this made me feel spiritual. Cheers to everyone involved with this.
