Godaddy Hosting Throwing Away Millions of Potential Dollars

Godaddy seems to be the model of total entrepreneurial success for establishing themselves as a Brand Name for domain name registration, website hosting, domain auctions and many other Internet Services but for some reason beyond common sense, Godaddy is throwing away millions of dollars by not offering services to fully transfer websites from other Hosting Sites to Godaddy Hosting.
For various reasons I was planning to transfer my current Blog Hosting to Godaddy Hosting and had in fact signed up for Godaddy’s 3 Year Unlimited Hosting Plan which seemed like a good idea but with one exception- Godaddy would not transfer my site themselves to Goddady. Goddady considers it the customers responsibility to move their website to Godaddy Hosting and they will not provide this service or even refer you to people who will. Now even though I’m fairly computer savvy, I had no idea how to transfer a website from one Host to another and I wasted a lot of time trying to find people who would do it. The bottom line is it would cost me several hundred dollars and I would have to deal with strangers I never dealt with before and I didn’t feel comfortable doing this.
On further research, I found another well known Hosting Company that will transfer your website to their website for free so I decided to cancel the 3 year Hosting Plan I signed with Godaddy for a full refund. I should mention that I get my domains registered with Godaddy and do business with Godaddy because I think their customer service is excellent.
I’m just writing this blog because its hard to fathom why a billion dollar company like Godaddy is throwing away millions of dollars in lost revenue by not providing Domain migration services from one Host to Godaddy, either free or for a fee. I honestly would not have had any problem with paying Godaddy a fee to transfer my Blog to Godaddy Hosting. Maybe millions of dollars in lost potential revenue is Godaddy’s equivalent of me losing a $10 bill!
