How to Fix Your Computer if You’re Not Very Computer Experienced

I’ve learned a lot of things over the years through trial and error as well as tech support on how to fix my computer for problems and here’s an easy guide for you that hopefully will save you time and money in the future when things go wrong with your computer. One thing I personally would recommend is to have an extended warranty from your computer’s manufacturer provided it will include free reliable technical support that you can get 24 hours a day, promptly without having to wait more than 10 minutes to deal with and fix computer problems.

For the record my computers are XP, but I’m pretty sure everything I say applies to to Vista as well and I think Windows 95,98 and 2000 as well.

1. I’m guessing most computer problems come not so much when you install programs but when you uninstall programs, specifically the following situation:

You uninstall a program but a message comes up stating that if you uninstall a particular item or items relating to your software it could cause damage and they recommend that you don’t delete that item or item. When that happens you should not delete the item/items. To do so is asking for major problems. You will still be uninstalling the software but certain parts will be left on your computer. That is OK and won’t cause any problems. Its when you take stuff off that they say you should leave on, problems occur. For a lot of software you can just click uninstall and it will be uninstalled simple as that. But when you’re asked to leave certain things on, I would answer them leave on.

2. You should have a good up-to-date anti-virus system on your computer. I would recommend Nod 32

3, Most computer problems occur when you download things from porn sites as well as questionable sites that your not aware of. If unsure, do not download. You can also google the site and see if there are posts about spyware and viruses on it. Also never go into Search and delete things that you don’t know what they are. When I first got a computer I deleted .dil files which I didn’t know what they they were and I screwed up my computer major league.

4. I would buy 1-Click Maintenance, Advanced Registry Optomizer, and Registry Mechanic as well as Spyware Doctor.

(TuneUp Utilities) 1-Click Maintenance quickly cleans up your registry and hard drive with one click. 1-Click Maintenance is part of this software and is the basic application I use from it.

Advanced Registry Optimizer cleans, repairs and optimizies your PC Registry. Errors in your registry accumulate over time and can lead to crashes, reduced performance and unwanted slow-downs. By downloading and frequently using a top-rated registry cleaner like Advanced Registry Optimizer, you can stabilize your system’s performance quickly and easily.

(PC Tools)Registry Mechanic is an advanced registry cleaner for that can safely clean and repair problems with your registry in a few simple mouse clicks! Easily fix problems with the Windows registry that are a common cause of crashes and error messages. I find this compliments Registry Optimizer and I recommend both.

Spyware Doctor offers protection against Spyware, Adware, Spyware Trojans, Keyloggers, Identity Theft, Hijackers, Tracking Threats, Rogue Anti-Spyware, Unwanted Software, Phishing, Popups and Bad Websites.

5. What I would do if you have problems with your computer is:

1. Run all the programs I have listed in Number 4 above.

2. If after running these programs you still have problems, run System Restore using the latest date before you noticed you had these problems.

3. If System Restore does not work, then call your computer manufacturer for technical help.

6. If your problem is with the internet, I would disconnect your modem for a minute and if the problems occur after you’re reconnected then call your internet provider as it may be their problem or it may be a problem with your modem. If it’s a wireless problem, then you need to speak with the wireless department at your provider and have her change wireless channels.
