Purple Rocks, He Don’t!
Before you get the wrong idea, I’ve Been to the Rock Hall of Fame Museum and to my surprise I actually liked it quite a lot and would recommend anyone who loves rock to go. What I don’t like and think is totally bogus is to call it the The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame when such “noted rockers” like Leonard Cohen, Madonna and Miles Davis are in it as well as others who don’t play rock music but Deep Purple is not!
If they were honest and just called it “The Music Hall of Fame” or something along those lines instead of “The Rock Hall of Fame”, I’d have no gripes. I find it ridiculous for people who aren’t rock musicians to be in a Hall of Fame honoring Rock Musicians. It’s like the Baseball Hall of Fame electing Ron Shelton who directed “Bull Durham” and played minor league baseball and Garth Brooks who was allowed to play with several Major League Baseball Teams. Deep Purple not being in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is like Babe Ruth not being in the Baseball Hall of Fame!
Like I said, I actually do like the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum but to call it the Rock and Rol Hall of Fame is just an exploitation of Rock and Roll. But when you think about it, Rock and Roll has always been exploited.
