John Mayall Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton,Peter Green,Mick Taylor Are All I Need
I’ve just the spent one of the best weekends of my life listening only to John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers CDS: John Mayall Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton [DELUXE EDITION] a 2 CD collection featuring most of Eric Clapton’s sixties recordiings with John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers A Hard Road with Peter Green Deluxe Set a 2 CD Collection featuring most of Green’s recordings with John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers in the sixties and “Crusade” with Mick Taylor later Rolling Stones guitarist. I’ve listened to these recordings for almost 30 years and they still sound great and even better today. For anyone discovering the blues or who doesn’t have these albums, these are some of the best recordings of the British Blues Boom of the 1960′s. The sound on these albums is so gritty and genuine you feel like you’re back in the 1960′s in a smoky club in England discovering the blues. It doesn’t get much better listening to these albums on a Thanksgiving weekend.
John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton [DELUXE EDITION]
This is a deluxe 2 CD edition of the most important album of the British Blues Revolution that sparked the cries of “Clapton is God”. It adds 19 more recordings with Clapton in the group as well as both the mono and stereo versions of the original album. Eric Clapton and the group are on fire as Clapton plugs his Gibson Les Paul into a Marshall Amp and changes rock forever. This is the stuff of legends. Highlights are ‘Key To Love’ ‘Hideaway’ ‘All Your Love’ and ‘Steppin Out’. The group consisted of John Mayall, Eric Clapton who sings his first recorded lead vocal “Ramblin on My Mind”, John McVie later of Fleetwood Mac on bass and Hughie Flint later of the Blues Band on drums.
John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers “A Hard Road with Peter Green Deluxe Set”
When Eric Clapton left John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers he was replaced by Peter Green and the band didn’t lose a step. They recorded the superlative “A Hard Road” and this deluxe 2 CD remastered set adds 22 more of Peter Green’s recordings with John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers which features Peter Green’s guitar in all its glory. Highlights include “The Stumble”, “You Don’t Love Me” and Peter Green’s originals “The Supernatural” and “The Same Way”. The band consists of John Mayall, Peter Green who also sings some lead vocals, John McVie, Peter’s future Fleetwood Mac bandmate and Aynsley Dunbar on drums, later of Frank Zappa, Journey and Jefferson Starship.
John Mayall and Bluesbreakers featuring Mick Taylor “Crusade”
Peter Green left the Bluesbreakers to form Fleetwood Mac and somehow Mayall managed to get another incredible lead guitarist, Mick Taylor, later of the Rolling Stones, as his replacement. Crusade is a superlative album capturing the passion and spirit of the 60′s with a hot combination of originals and covers of Chicago Blues classics. Highlights include “Oh, Pretty Woman”, “Checkin on my Baby”, Mayall’s original “The Death of J.B. Lenoir” and “Driving Sideways”. This is easily the best album Mick Taylor recorded with John Mayall in my opinion. The group consisted of John Mayall, Mick Taylor, John McVie, Keef Hartley on drums, Chris Mercer on Tenor Sax and Rip Kant on Baritone Sax.
