Jolida JD-100a Tube CD Player Gives You Fantastic Sound aka Jolida JD 100
A lot of people no longer listen to or buy CDs which is cool but if you’re like me and value audio quality, chances are you still buy CDs and want to listen to them on the best sounding CD player you can afford. CD players still greatly affect sound quality even if CDs are digitally recorded.
I would recommend for the best CD sound, a Tube CD player like the one I own, a Jolida JD-100a. Quite simply with my Jolida JD-100A (sometimes referred to as the Jolida JD 100) my music sounds more vibrant, alive, less sterile, with more separation, than ever before. I play a lot of classic rock and blues and they sound incredible on my Jolida. The JD-100A seems to go for about $895 online and its worth every penny.
The great thing about a Tube CD player is you can change the sound by simply changing the players tubes which is very easy to do. I would recommend if you do buy the JD-100A, to get and install 2 JJ Tesla ECC83 12AX7 Tubes which will run you about $20 for the pair and you can find online. I like these tubes because they are almost neutral yet revealing and detailed but not revealing and detailed enough to bring a recordings bad audio parts to your attention. You’ll find that the more revealing and detailed tubes are, the more you will notice a recordings audio limitations specifically older recordings. So the higher up you go on tubes, i.e., like getting gold pin tubes for the set I recommended, chances are you’ll hear more detail then you want to hear. The choice is yours.
I also find that I get the best sound with my Jolida JD-100A with cheap Acoustic Research Performance Series Stereo Audio Cable which gives me perfect neutral sounds and doesn’t create or distort sounds that aren’t there. I found that the more expensive cables didn’t make recordings sound as good.
Lastly, I would also recommend, this might be heresy with some Tube CD Player fanatic, a Musical Fidelity X-10 V3 Tube Buffer which you can find online, probably used as I think this model is no longer on the market, for $250. Somehow, connecting my JD-100A to the X-10 V3 Tube Buffer, made my already great sound turn utterly fantastic.
