Kansas City Chiefs Head Coach Interview Todd Haley Should Ask
I have nothing but praise for Arizona Cardinals Offensive Coordinator Todd Haley who was one of the main reasons the Cardinals made it to the Super Bowl but if I were the Kansas City Chiefs and they interview Todd Haley for the Head Coaching position as rumored, the first interview question I’d ask Haley is why didn’t he open up the Offense more in the first three quarters?
In my opinion, the somewhat conservative Arizona Cardinals offense during the first three quarters of the Super Bowl is what lost the game. While I’m not a Head Coach and Todd Haley knows more about football in his little finger then I’ll ever know, it seemed that the Cardinals played not to lose in those 3 quarters instead of playing to win. Quite simply, the Cardinals should have forced some of their plays to Larry Fitzgerald instead of waiting till the final 10 minutes. I think Haley basically took what Pittsburgh gave him which was taking Fitzgerald out of the game instead of just going for it and risking an interception or two and then with nothing to lose played going for it football with Fitzgerald in the final 10 minutes. You have to wonder what the outcome of the game would have been if Arizona opened up their offense for the whole game instead of the last 10 minutes. On the other hand, if Arizona’s defense held Pittsburgh in their final drive, then the Cardinals would have won and Haley’s strategy would have worked.
