Kansas City Chiefs Matt Cassel, Obama? Poor Jay Cutler and Tyler Thigpen
Is Matt Cassel the next Obama? I’m not saying Obama isn’t going to be a great President but people are treating him like he’s the savior of the United States before the guy’s really done anything. The same can be said of Matt Cassel. This summer Cassel was close to being released because of a bad exhibition season and the only reason he started was because Tom Brady got injured. He then had a good year on a team that went 16-0 during the previous regular season and went 11-5 with the same players with Cassel. He performed well don’t get me wrong but I think most back-up quarterbacks in the NFL if they had three years to learn New England’s offense would probably have done just as well if not better. NFL teams didn’t even draft Cassel till the 7th round and now based on one good season that most NFL quarterbacks could have done with the same players, he’s considered the savior? What is he Obama or something. Or more specifically, Rob Johnson?
Rob Johnson, a 4th round quarterback drafted by Jacksonville, on the basis of 1 single start was traded to the Buffalo Bills for a First and Fourth Round draft pick and signed a multi million dollar contract and had a less than mediocre career in the NFL. Will these NFL General Managers and media writers like Peter “Can’t Stop Writing About Bret Favre Even Though We’re Sick About Reading About Him” King, ever learn? The Denver Broncos supposedly were stupid enough to want to make Matt Cassel their starting Quarterback because their new head coach is ex New England Offensive Coordinator Josh McDaniels and they were going to trade Jay Cutler to Tampa Bay as part of a 3 way trade.
My predictions are that the incumbent Kansas City Quarterback, Tyler Thigpen who had a pretty good season and was a good leader for the Kansas City Chiefs despite what he had to work with will beat Matt Cassel out as the starting Quarterback if he’s given a fair shot and some other back-up NFL Quarterback will become the next Obama.
