CSI without William Petersen and Laurence Fishburne in his “place” is like a football team without a quarterback. There’s no one stirring the pot and CSI is now a ship lost at sea without a rudder. Either the CSI casting director, producers, directors or the writers should be fired for putting Laurence Fishburne in the game. It just doesn’t work.

I don’t know who made the decision to put Laurence Fishburne’s character as the low man on the CSI team but it doesn’t work with his laid back vibe. Yawn. He is to CSI what David Beckham is to the Los Angeles Galaxy Major League Soccer team. What exactly? They’re paying Fishburne a huge amount of money I imagine and he’s adding nothing to the show at all and a no name actor could be playing his role and the show wouldn’t suffer.

Maybe if they had put Laurence Fishburne in William Petersen’s role as the CSI Las Vegas Team leader and gave his character some charisma it would have worked. I don’t know. But right now William Petersen leaving and Laurence Fishburne “replacing” him is subtraction from subtraction.

My solution to all this. Hire John Cleese as the new Head of CSI and let John Cleese be John Cleese!
