Making Found Money Selling Broken Electronics Items for Parts on Ebay
I know you all know about Ebay and selling Used Electronics Items there like, Camcorders, DVD players, receivers, CD players, computers, laptops, etc., but are you aware there is a market for broken electronics items to people who buy broken items for parts.
Chances are you were just going to throw this broken stuff out but if you sell it on Ebay, it’s found money. You won’t make that much but you just have to determine if its worth the time going through the hassle of selling it online.
There are 2 ways of selling broken items. One is to sell the whole item by itself and just advertise it like so, assume its a Broken Computer, “Broken Computer for Parts”. Under this method, you sell the entire computer, describing its parts and its up to the buyer to take the parts out of the computer. It is important you clearly write the following phrase in your listing description- “Sold as Is”. That means that the buyer can’t return the computer no matter what. The second method of selling, using the broken computer for example, is for you to take all the parts out and simply sell them seperately like:
CPU processor,modem,memory, etc. I would do this if you are likelier to make more money selling the parts separately and have determined that its worth your time to sell it this way instead. Under this method you’d simply be selling “Used Part Items” and you wouldn’t mention the word broken or the phrase “sold as is”. This is more of a pain in the butt of selling this way in terms of time.
The main thing to remember before you list an item is the bigger the item’s size the more of a pain in the neck it is going to be to pack it and then bring to the Post Office. Make sure your price includes the packing price of the item as well as shipping costs and if I were you, I’d add a surcharge if its a large item to the final shipping price (but don’t mention the word surcharge in your listing).
