Monty Python CSI: John Cleese Should Have Replaced Grissom

CBS CSI Las Vegas should have thought outside the box and hired Monty Python’s John Cleese to replace William Peterson as Gil Grissom instead of Laurence Fishbourne. Instead CSI Las Vegas’s ratings have gone down because both the character Dr. Ray Langston, Laurence Fishbourne plays is not the CSI Las Vegas Central Figure and neither Fishbourne or the character adds anything to CSI whatsoever. By making Ray Langston a subordinate and not the key figure yet hiring Laurence Fishbourne as the star makes no sense whatsoever. Essentially his character was forced on us and given more screen time in a role that didn’t call for more screen time and the CSI audience basically rejected CSI for doing this.
If on the other hand, I ran CBS and was making the big bucks, I would have hired John Cleese as the new Head of CSI, transferring in from England and being known as someone brilliant but so offbeat that he made Gil Grissom conservative. I would have had him dress like the above photo and do his silly walks shtick and everything that makes John Cleese John Cleese. Just as the TV audience tunes in for Hugh Laurie on House, people would tune in to see John Cleese and wonder what he’s going to do next. But Noooooooooooooooooooooooo! Funny thing is, John Cleese CSI Las Vegas would work better than John Cleese CSI London. We can always dream.
