Murdering Your Wife or Murdering Your Husband is Stupid
Without getting into the morality of murdering a human being, I’ve seen enough idiots on CBS 48 Hour Mystery, NBC Dateline and ABC 20/20 to realize that murdering your husband or wife is a stupid crime as it will in all likelihood make your life a living hell even if you get away with it. Even if you’re not convicted of murder you will lose your name and reputation, friends, finances, possibly your job/business or if not your job make it more difficult, lose your standing in your community, family, love and your privacy and your space. Is that all worth it? That’s not even counting moral regret.
I don’t know what the statistics are of an unsolved murder involving a husband or wife but I read somewhere that over 50% of murders go unsolved and I’m sure that the chances of getting away with killing one’s spouse are less because the spouse is automatically the first suspect. So by killing your husband or wife, the chances are good you will be charged with murder and probably convicted of murder and probably spend the rest of your life in prison and never have heterosexual sex again, cable TV, the Internet and good food and freedom. Is that worth it no matter how much you may hate your husband or wife? To me, its not.
As I said you will be the first person the police suspect. If and when they bring you to trial you will need to find a criminal lawyer to defend you on murder charges. A good criminal lawyer is going to cost you plenty. Unless you are filthy rich, say goodbye to your money to get your murder lawyer. Once you are on trial chances are every skeleton in your closet that you’ve kept hidden all these years will be exposed no matter how good a criminal defense your lawyer puts up.
Let’s say you somehow are not convicted. Your life will pretty much suck anyway, though I admit its better than being in prison. Chances are you will have to start your life all over again and the older you are is going to be more difficult. Even though you weren’t convicted most people will probably consider you guilty anyway and will shun you or be frightened of you or both. You will have a reputation that you have to live with the rest of your life. Chances are if you have kids, even if they believe you now, when they get older they might not. While they’re going to school, classmates will constantly call you a murderer to their face. People will stare at you every place you go, business and work relationships will end, basically life will suck. On top of that, you probably could face a civil suit by your spouses family that will start the revolving carousel all over again and leave you more financially destitute.
Bottom line is, your better off divorcing your husband or wife rather than murdering them because you’ll still have a life and your name and reputation, a job, friends and family and privacy. And no, I’ve never been married!
