Nate Davis Pro Day Ball State Quarterback NFL GMs Are Idiots
I am convinced most of us without any experience as a National Football League General Manager can do as well as some of these overrated legend in their own mind NFL General Managers when it comes to the NFL Draft as well as making trades. The classic example happened yesterday. Nate Davis an excellent quarterback who led Ball State to a 12-2 record who played 39 games in his collegiate career had only one pro football team, the local Indianapolis Colts, check Nate Davis out during the Ball State pro day workout. Evidently the NFL General Managers are not wild with how Davis grips the football despite his obvious throwing success. These are the same NFL GM’s who are apparently willing to draft USC Quarterback Mark Sanchez in the first round of the NFL draft despite only one full year of experience, throw millions of dollars and high draft picks to trade for quarterback Rob Johnson on the basis of one NFL game for the Jacksonville Jaguars and are willing to throw millions and a high draft pick for New England Patriot 7th Round pick Matt Cassel on the basis of one good year playing with one of the best NFL teams in football that almost any NFL back-up quarterback could have had if he knew the Patriots system for 3 years.
I’m guessing that most NFL General Managers are afraid of anything outside the norm like most General Managers in Sports. If they draft someone who doesn’t fit the standard profile even though they’ve demonstrated the ability, if they fail, the General Managers are afraid they’ll lose their jobs because of it or it will be used against them as one of the reasons they’re being fired. They’re managing like many NFL teams play, not to lose rather than trying to win. Why do you think Doug Flutie originally wasn’t given much of a shot in the NFL when the World Football League Folded? Or Wes Welker wasn’t drafted because of his size? Of course they’ll take chances on players with criminal convictions and say they’re misunderstood.
To not send your NFL team’s coaches and scouts to see Nate Davis workout on pro day is a disgrace by these NFL teams and I hope if Nate Davis has a successful pro career these NFL General Managers are held responsible. The reason a lot of NFL teams don’t win is their General Managers are afraid to play to win.
