New England Patriots Should Trade for Kurt Warner Now!
If Tom Brady is truly out for the season or most of the season, the New England Patriots are not going to make it to the playoffs with Matt Cassel as quarterback. Chances are the Patriots will sign a quarterback like Daunte Culpepper who won’t make that much of a difference. If the Patriots want to go for broke, they’d offer a #1 draft pick in 2009 and a conditional #1 pick in 2010 for Kurt Warner. The price for Warner would be that high now because he is Arizona’s starting quarterback and Arizona is off to a winning start. Warner’s time no matter how good he plays is limited because of his age to Arizona and with 2 possible number one picks, the timing might be right to put all your chips behind Matt Leinart. As for Warner, he would actually have a shot to go to the Superbowl again. It will be interesting how this situation plays out. I always thought the one weakness the Patriots had is back-up quarterback. Cassel did a good job today but I can’t imagine him playing at that level the whole year.
