New York Jets Mark Sanchez a Genius Pete Carroll USC Not So Much
I totally bow to USC quarterback Mark Sanchez, the fifth pick of the 2009 NFL draft by the New York Jets for being smart enough to turn pro when everyone else advised him against it particularly his USC Head Coach Pete Carroll. I personally don’t understand how a quarterback can be drafted on the first round based on essentially one season of starting college football but Mark Sanchez was smart enough to figure out his market worth and is now all the richer for it while Pete Carroll all the poorer for his original public comments about how Sanchez wasn’t ready and how he might not be drafted that high.
In the long run, Sanchez possibly could have been a better NFL player if he played another year at USC and made more long term money in his NFL career as Pete Carroll said but if my aunt had balls she’d be my uncle. It all boils down to what is more important to a player, money now or a long term successful career. Most players would probably chose the money. I know I would. Basically if I was a High School Football star I would think twice if Pete Carroll recruited me to play USC because I’d question if Peter Carroll really has my interests at heart. Of course Carroll thinks of ones interest in their long term not short term and he possibly could be right but would anyone want to gamble their money on this.
I think Obama should put Mark Sanchez in charge of the economy because he is one heck of a financial genius. Whether he’s a great NFL quarterback remains to be seen. But he’s got my admiration.
