I never watched ABC’s “Wife Swap” before but I just had to because of all the bad publicity that the Stephen Fowler family has been given. This post isn’t about Stephen Fowler who the only thing I’ll say here is you’d think with all his money he could afford decent looking teeth, but about his wife, Renee Stephens. I actually think Renee Stephens is getting a bum deal on the posts I’m reading about her. Most of what she tried to bring upon the Long family, the family she was swapped with, were things worth saying and might one day save or prolong the Long’s children’s lives if they were followed. Other then having Alan Long wear a dress to clean up his place which I think she did to be funny not mean and make a point where Long could laugh at himself, I did not find her condescending at all. While I don’t agree fully with how she raises her own kids and I think its idiotic that she doesn’t know how to use a washing machine, that’s her business but I think her children will in the long run be better off than the Long children in terms of their physical health. The Long’s to me give ignorance a bad name as they are going to be responsible for their kids health problems and limitations in life if they continue with their lifestyle which seems to advocate Ignorance. I should say at the end of the show, Alan Long showed he was a bit open to change. In my opinion though, it is criminal for a family to espouse ignorance and a totally unhealthy bad diet and then claim that’s what being an American is all about. I don’t think so.

Getting back to Renee Stephens I didn’t find her rude or condescending at all like her husband and of all the 4 parents on this show did nothing in my opinion to be ashamed of in trying to install on Alan Long that there is nothing wrong with an education, doing some exercise and not eating unhealthy 100% of the time (yes I know this is a double negative) and I think she should be praised not scorned.
