Sinus Relief Now Some tips to Alleviate Nasal Problems

If you suffer from sinus problems here’s a checklist of things that I’ve done to alleviate my nasal problems and give me sinus relief if not get rid of some problems all together. Before you read further, I’m not a Doctor and if you suffer from regular sinus problems, you should immediately make an appointment with a good Ear, Nose and Throat Doctor and bring this checklist with you and discuss it with your Doctor. So to repeat, before you do anything, make an appointment with an Ear, Nose and Throat Doctor, tell him your problems and follow his course of treatment. You can bring this checklist with you and discuss it with him. Oh, my breathing problems were mainly indoors inside of where I lived.

1. If by some chance you have a Deviated Septum, that is almost likely to be contributing to your problem, if not the actual problem in itself. If you have a deviated septum, your breathing in a Nostril is blocked. I had one when I was younger and it drove me crazy until I finally couldn’t take it anymore and had it fixed. A Deviated Septum operation should be covered by your health insurance. The important thing is to get the name of a good Surgeon from someone you trust. Don’t pick one out from a Yellow Book or Newspaper ad. When I had the operation as far as I remember, I was given an oral anesthetic, didn’t feel any pain, and I think I was swollen for about 10 days and then looked normal and for the first time in my life, I could breath fully through my nose in both of my nostrils. This was over 30 years ago so things may be different today. One other thing that you can do if you are getting surgery for a deviated septum, is get a nose job at the same time if you’re not happy with how your nose looks. I didn’t, I liked my nose just the same.

2. I later developed indoor breathing problems particularly at night depending where I lived. Here’s what alleviated the problems so I could comfortably breath 100% at home.

1. I constantly have my air conditioner on 100% of the time at a fixed cool or cold temperature as the constant flow of cool air got rid of the stuffiness. In one place I lived 68 degrees was enough, in another residence surrounded by trees, I had to set it to 59 degrees after 3:00 PM and 61 degrees in the morning. Do not set your air conditioner to automatic because it won’t give you much relief. Set it to a fixed temperature. Also keep all your windows closed. Yes, my electricity bill is very high each month but its worth it.

2. Claritin D always gives me instant relief but the problem is it raises your blood pressure and I have high blood pressure. Regular Claritin does nothing for me whatsoever. I used 12 hour Claritin D on the odd occasion but don’t use it regularly because it raises my blood pressure.

3. Flonase This prescription spray has been a miracle for me. When I moved into my current residence years ago somehow the trees and the pollen made my nose stuffed up almost all the time. My Doctor prescribed Flonase and within a week the stuffiness was eliminated. I just spray twice in each Nostril once a day at around 6:30 PM. I use the name brand and it is of course covered by insurance.

4. Hoover Silent Air 4000 Purifier I have one of these in my bedroom and one of these in my den and it works great and cleans the air silently. You can’t believe the crap that’s on the collection sheets that its picked up from the air, that you discard once a month. This is an older model and may have been replaced by a newer one.

5. Honeywell Hepa Air Purifier I’ve had several different models of these and they’ve all worked well and I didn’t find them too loud even when I had them set at maximum power. They did a great job of cleaning my air constantly.

6. Hepa Vacuum cleaner My Hepa Vacuum Cleaner does a great job of getting rid of the dust in my apartment. I’d recommend one for yourself.

7. You may also consider moving as the location of where you live could be the direct source of your problems.

I’m pretty sure one of these if not all will give you Nasal Relief at home but the main thing is to see a Doctor and discuss everything with him. Things will get better.
