South Park was Right Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Sucks
I thought “Raiders of the Lost Ark” was one of the best movies I ever saw but I admit I haven’t seen it in 27 years. My memories of the other Indiana Jones movies are basically forgotten but I know I thought they weren’t bad.
I watched the South Park episode, “The China Problem” in which Kyle, Stan and Kenny have nightmares in which George Lucas and Steven Spielberg “rape” Indiana Jones, in the sense that the latest Indiana Jones movie did an injustice to the earlier films. Having not seen “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” yet this didn’t make sense to me.
Well, I just rented the DVD and true confession time, I stopped watching this piece of crap after an hour and 15 minutes. I don’t know if I’ve just aged too much in the 27 years since “Raiders of the Lost Ark” or “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” is meant to be a childrens movie that was phoned in, There is no originality at all, one could care less about the characters including Indy, it looks like every scene is like a contrived “paint by the numbers” scene, the Indiana Jones escapes a nuclear explosion by refrigerator scene is an insult to the intelligence of anyone with an IQ. Shia LaBeouf looks like he’s in a Saturday Night Live sketch doing Marlon Brando in “the Wild One” and Cate Blanchett looks and sounds like shes doing a bad imitation of Natasha in a Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoon not an Indiana Jones movie.
I found after an hour and fifteen minutes of this, I could care less what goes on and how the movie ends and just turned the DVD off. This movie sucks. South Park was right.
