Sports Profiling OK but Racial Profiling Not? Why? You Tell Me!

I hope someone can clue me in on this because I as a white man do not understand why if its OK to profile things in everyday life like Sports for instance its not OK for police to use racial profiling in response to crime?
In sports both pro and college teams in various sports try to profile the opposite team for characteristics which they then try to stop if they are good characteristics for the other team. IE, let’s say a basketball team knows certain players will only shoot outside from the left side. Therefore, they will try to prevent them from shooting there if they have a good field goal percentage. Or certain baseball players will usually swing and miss at low inside pitches out of the strike zone from a left handed pitcher. Therefore left hand pitchers should pitch this way to these baseball players to be most effective. That’s considered smart managing and teams are praised for their profiling. Hypothetically, if for some reason members of a particular race all had a particular characteristic related to that sport, should a Team then be forbidden to come up with strategy for trying to prevent those athletes from being successful to use those characteristics? You tell me?
Some cities have profiled certain crime areas where there is a high percentage of crime and have put more police in that area. Should they not be allowed to do so because they have profiled that the area is a high crime area?
In regards to Racial Profiling and crime, if any particular race is statistically known for committing certain types of crime and a policeman sees a member of that race near the crime scene or acting suspicious, are they just suppose to ignore the fact that statistically there is a good chance they may have been involved with the crime and not question them? You tell me. If you think they shouldn’t be questioned no matter how accurate the statistics are, then shouldn’t sports profiling as well as consumer profiling, and so on, be banned? Just because there are valid socioeconomic reasons contributing to the statistics does not make the statistics inaccurate. I just don’t quite understand why profiling is acceptable in some ways of life and not acceptable in others. You tell me.
