Superhero Movie Extended Edition DVD - Pretty Funny Despite the Bad Reviews
Out of boredom and fearing the worst, I just rented “Superhero Movie Extended Edition”. I may be wrong but I assumed “Superhero Movie” was made by the people who did “Date Movie”, one of the worst movies I’ve ever rented and after reading the bad reviews on “Superhero Movie” I almost didn’t rent it. To my surprise, this was actually a pretty good movie, not great but not terrible either, a solid “B”. It was like a “Poor Man’s Scary Movie 1″. This is why I’m getting less and less trustful of newspaper and magazine reviews. For instance, I thought the last 15 minutes of “No Country for Old Men” was the worst ending I’ve ever seen in a movie - non-ending is my term and that ending rendered what until at that point was a great film, terrible to me. Yet the critics all seemed to declare “No Country” a masterpiece. Consequently, low brow cheap humor movies will almost always get bad reviews from the critics. In all fairness I should mention that if you don’t have a minimum knowledge in comic book lore you might not find this movie funny. Likewise, if you are a total Fanboy, you might find Superhero Movie’s humor too subtle and lame for you. It walks a fine line.
“Superhero Movie” had some pretty good jokes and the pacing was quite good. The acting was decent- not great but not terrible. To me the funniest scene and I never find “fart scenes” funny was the extended fart scene with the old Aunt played by Happy Days Marion Ross. The scene where the Spiderman type hero, Rick Riker is plummeting the gang attacking his love interest, played by Sara Paxton, is almost as funny. The only changes I would have made to “Superhero Movie” would have been to use the alternate ending on the Extended Version DVD over the regular ending and included the Wolverine “toilet paper scene”. I’d definitely recommend “Superhero Movie Extended Edition” DVD if you want a few good laughs.

About as funny as a car crash - Superhero Movie is terrible and I love comic books and comedies. 2/10, thats being generous.
Comment Reply to Glenn Each of us is entitled to our opinion. I think if you weren’t a Fanboy, not meant as an insult, you would have liked this movie but as I said in my review, I didn’t think Fanboys would like it because the humor is subtle and not in your face.
