Arizona Cardinals Need to Get Their Act Together To Win in Playoffs
I’m a Kurt Warner fan and I applaud the Arizona Cardinals for having a great season but if they want to win in the NFL Playoffs the team has got to get their act together. They are the most untogether winning playoff contender team I have seen in years and that includes both the coaching and the players.
Before I say anything else, I love the Arizona Cardinals passing attack which to me has the best receivers in the league: Anquan Boldin, Larry Fitzgerald, Steve Breaston, Jerheme Urban with the best quarterback in the NFL right now. The problem is, as shown in the New York Giants loss today, the rushing calls and the rushing offense totally sucks even though the running backs aren’t bad players. I don’t understand why they are not playing Edgerrin James more. As the result of having such a lousy rushing game, the Giants were able to play for the pass more and put extra pressure on Kurt Warner. The Cardinals needs to decide whether to abandon the rush altogether and just pass, pass, pass or get their act together in regards to the rush. Based on the last 2 games which I saw the Cardinals play, their rushing offense looks totally disjointed, more so than any NFL team I’ve ever seen. I also don’t understand why a team, as the announcers said in the game, would lineup Anquan Boldin under center inside the 20 and take Kurt Warner out for one play when you have such an incredible passing offense.
Special Teams was a total joke and a Superbowl winning team does not let teams run back the ball on kickoffs like they let the New York Giants Domenik Hixon do today. I could see letting someone run the ball back like Hixon did once in a game as those things happen but not twice in the same game. The guy if what I just read was correct, hadn’t returned a kickoff this year until this game and had averaged 24.8 yards returning in his career as opposed to averaging 60 yards today. That is a total disgrace by the Cardinals for which the Special Teams Coach has to take responsibility.
Somehow the Cardinals players seem to come up short when they need it the most like not stopping teams on third down and dropping perfect onside kicks.
I’m hoping the Arizona Cardinals have learned something in their loss to the New York Giants and get their act together for the playoffs. I commend them again for having their best season in ages but as I said, if they want to make this their best season ever the team has got to get their act together.
