The Beatles CD Remastered Series September 9, 2009

Like many people, the Beatles were the group that turned me onto to Rock and Roll and they made my life when I was a teenager waiting for their next single and album, each usually better then the next. Besides incredible songs and performances, the Beatles had an amazing audio sound for the era they were recorded in. Yet when the Beatles went digital and put their music on CD under the direction of their great producer, George Martin, the Beatles CD sound in my personal opinion, sucked. There was no balls to the music just thuds. I don’t know how George Martin got a clear pass on this as I never read anything that was remotely critical of the CDs at that time. In fact, music columnists in the major metropolitan cities reviewed the Beatles CDs when they first came out like they were a coming from God with incredible new revelations. Did they even bother to listen?
What was amazing is that the Beatles Record company other than for compilation CDs, didn’t bother to try to improve the Beatles sound on the CDs till now. So beginning September 9, 2009, when new Remastered Beatles CDs come out replacing the Beatles CDs I already have, I will be spending more of my hard earned money buying these as replacements. Basically the Beatles followed other groups, albeit they took two decades or so longer, doing what I call the CD remastering Vicious Cycle, where a record company after you already bought their albums on CD now says they’ve discovered a better recording source with incredible sound or better technology and a few years later finds an even better recording source with even better incredible sound and you’ve bought the same CD several times over. In the case of the Beatles, its worth it! Time to empty my pockets! Can’t wait!
