The First Bowling Urban Legend : Man Bowls 300 and Drops Dead
If you’re going to die, you may as well do it with style the way Don Doane did on October 16, 2008, in Ravenna, Michigan by becoming the first Bowling Urban Legend, by dying right after he bowled his first 300 Perfect Game at the the Ravenna Bowl. It obviously was a shame that Don Doane, 62, couldn’t get to savoir his achievement longer, but how many people become Urban Legends the second they die?
Apparently while celebrating with his teamates in his bowling league, Doane’s heart gave out and he died of a massive heart attack. He was giving a teamate a high five and just collapsed. “You get nervous shooting a 300,” says teammate Todd Place. “The pressure keeps building,” says bowling alley owner Jim Nutt. Apparently he died with a smile on his face.
Don Doane had been a member for 45 years of the “Nutt Farm” bowling team at Ravenna Bowl for 45 years and his lifes ambition was to bowl a Perfect Game. This blog is meant to honor him not disrespect him so please don’t take it that way.
