I surprisingly have actually enjoyed the American version of Life on Mars on ABC even though I hadn’t expected too after seeing and being disappointed with the British Life on Mars, specifically the ending which offered no surprises, no science fiction at all and made the journey of watching the British Version for me a complete waste of time. To make a long story short after being led on that we’d find British Sam Tyler’s mystery a shocker that we didn’t expect, it turns out he was in a coma all along. Yawn.

Well the US version from everything I read has promised a different ending from the British show and I’m taking that at face value meaning that Sam Tyler isn’t in a coma, not the US version still having him in a coma but unlike the British version he doesn’t commit suicide, which would be the ultimate scam rip-off.

So people instead have speculated Sam has time traveled, Sam is dead, Sam has gone to purgatory, Sam is in a Parallel Universe, Sam is insane, Sam is actually from 1973 and he created a 2008 imaginary life, all sorts of things except this one which was used in a Sci-fi movie years ago and is what I think will be the reason for Sam being in 1973 if the show hopefully doesn’t get canceled: Sam is a virtual reality computer character existing in a computer game being played by real life Gene Hunt in 2008!
