Vesuvius The Heavy Metal Monkees From “The Rocker” Are Great But Who Are They and Why Don’t They Get Real and Put Out An Album?
I just watched “The Rocker” a movie with such a lame title that I thought it was going to be mediocore because of Rainn Wilson of The Office and for the most part I was right. However the music was fantastic by the “nonexistent” Heavy Metal group Vesuvius and was pretty good from the pop rock type group A.D.D. led by real life musician Teddy Geiger. Just for Vesuvius and a cameo appearance by Pete Best of the Bealtes, I’d still recommend the movie. This blog is just about them.
I’m not a particular fan of Heavy Metal but I like some metal groups like Motorhead and AC/DC if you consider them metal and I loved Vesuvius. They have a great sound somewhat like an American AC/DC with great songs, vocals, guitar and drums. But I don’t know who the musicians and vocalist is and I can’t find a listing on the internet. It’s as if they don’t exist which is bizarre. The actors who “dubbed performed” as Vesuvius on stage were great and I hoped they were for real but I found out later they weren’t as they were played by Bradley Cooper, Will Arnett, Fred Armisen and Rainn Wilson replaced by Lonny Ross. Why the mystery? This is like the Bizarro Monkees. It makes no sense for these guys to hide there identities, not become a real group and play live, etc. If anyone knows who these musicians are please send in a comment. They’re missing they’re calling. They do perform 2 songs on The Rocker Soundtrack Album: Promised Land and Pompeii Nights which is worth getting if you like the power pop rock songs performed by Teddy Geiger and “A.D.D.” Or you can get them separately as downloads.
