Watching Lost Without a DVR is Like Electing Bush President
Is it me or does it seem like Lost either has more commercials than an average show or else the way the commercials are spaced on “Lost” is worse than the average TV show? Its because of shows like “Lost” that people like me skip commercials on TV with our DVRs and eventually hurt the Networks.
If the Networks were smart which they’re not, they would follow the role model for commercials used by “Fringe” on the Fox Network. Somehow “Fringe” has less commercials and they’re not all that long between scenes on the show, maybe 60 to 90 seconds. The end effect is, even though I watch Fringe on my DVR, I don’t bother to fast forward the commercials which aren’t intrusive as I’d be taking almost as long holding down the fast forward button and then “scrolling” back and forth to the next scene.
Other than Sports Events, I haven’t watched a TV program in real time for years. I think its just a suckers proposition. I’m guessing my DVR has given me an extra 10 hours of free time a week that I normally wouldn’t have by skipping the commercials. Is that ultimately hurting the Networks, sure, but its their own fault by pushing too many commercials on us. As DVRs only cost about $15 a month to rent, give or take, I think a person who watches Lost without a DVR is either destitute or not playing without a full deck.
