Where Not To Pick Your Face If You’re Going to Pick It!

If you’re determined to pick pimples, blackheads, whiteheads and cysts on your face, even though it will probably do you more harm then good, here’s some advice on how to minimize the damage and where not to pick for cosmetic as well as medical damage. I confess, that despite knowing I shouldn’t, I still pick my face on occasion as its kind of fun! OK, I’m a bit sick!

For the purpose of this article, the term pimples will also include blackheads, whiteheads and cysts, and picking will include squeezing, digging, draining with a pin, etc. Before I go on, if you do have skin problems, I recommend you see a dermatologist. If you are determined to pick anyway, here are some pointers on what not to do:

1. Do not pick until late at night when you are by yourself and are going to bed soon. This way no one will see you as your face will likely be red, bloody, swollen and possibly bruised. In short you will look a mess! I’ve noticed with a few hours sleep, most if not all of the above will go away or be minimized.

2. If you can’t get something out, don’t keep squeezing and picking as that will only bruise your face. Bruising of the face is quite noticeable and takes at least a day to go away. Also don’t pick too hard!

3. Do not pick any pimples on your nose and forehead whatsoever as for some reason they seem to look a lot worse afterwards and always look bruised even for minimal picking. Also your nose is the most noticeable part of your face and any picking will be noticeable the next few days.

4. If you are going to use a pin, make sure its clean. Same with your fingers.

5. Try not to squeeze in the most prominent part of your cheekbones as it may also be noticeable the next day and also cause you noticeable swelling and a distorted face.

I realize I’ve taken away most of your fun spots. To me, if you’re determined to squeeze, for me the most unnoticeable areas in terms of seeing any damage you’ve caused is on your chin as well as the lower areas of your face under your cheekbones.

One thing I’d definitely recommend to you is, get a light liquid nitrogen treatment on your face as often as you can from a dermatologist. This will definitely help your face look better and help minimize and zap your pimples. It may or may not be covered by your insurance, depending on how your dermatologist writes it up. Even if you pay out of pocket, its worth the cost. After the treatment, your face will look like it had a nice light tan for the next day or two and it helps heal and get rid of bad skin. Your dermatologist can also open up your pimples and/or inject them with cortisone to help get rid of them. Keep in mind I’m not a doctor and what works for me, may not work for everyone. Hope things work out for you.
