It looks like the CW in their genius move to redo shows that were cancelled over 5 years ago because people were tired of them and the ratings weren’t good are now planning to add the first female Zombie character who was once a live human character to a series. We’re talking about Sydney, Laura Leighton, who when we last saw her on the original Melrose Place was dead as a doornail after being run over at her own wedding. As Sydney/Laura Leighton is coming back to the new Melrose Place, one can only conclude Sydney is coming back as the first female Zombie regular. I wonder if the other residents at the new Melrose Place will even notice that Sydney is dead and a Zombie? Oh yes, one definitely will, my favorite character of the original Melrose Place, the great Dr. Michael Mancini (Thomas Calabro). It seemed for most of Melrose Pace’s incredible run, Michael Mancini and his women had their own show within a show and it was hilarious. In fact the original Melrose Place after they juiced it up towards the end of the first season was one of the most fun and entertaining TV series ever as long as you didn’t take it seriously. One of the stars of the show, Andrew Shue as Billy had to be one of the worst actors in the history of TV and always looked like his mouth was open catching flies!

I loved the original Melrose Place but like I said, I think its pathetic that the CW can’t bring original series to air instead and for some bizarre reason is relaunching TV shows that were obviously cancelled for a reason like Beverley Hills 90210. I can see the CW’s Fall 2009 Schedule including new versions of Joey and The Mullets. If the CW wanted to be real cutting edge though they’d redo Gomer Pyle but have Jason Butler Harner
who starred in The Changeling as psycho serial killer Gordon Stewart Northcott as Gomer Pyle. Golly!
